FinancialCyclesWeekly.com #0515 -- April 10-16, 02005 with Tim Bost
COMMENT: Wow! We've spent a lot of time during the past week talking with clients and subscribers about the potential impact of the Solar Eclipse coming just days away from Mercury's direct station. While it has been clear that the combination creates a major opportunity for scrambled communications, contractual challenges, and difficult beginnings, we nevertheless failed to anticipate the impact it would have on our own market analysis and publishing operations.
As it turns out, astrologers aren't exempt from the influence of eclipses and planetary stations. And while we were busy sharing words of wisdom with our clients, perhaps we should have heeded some of those words ourselves. We know stand reminded, from the ever-accurate perspective of hindsight, that a little appropriate action could have gone a long way, for example in the Backing-Up-Computer-Hard-Drives Department.
We won't bore you with all the gory details. Suffice it to say that right at the midpoint of Friday's Solar Eclipse and this Monday's Mercury Station, just as we were getting ready to put together the newsletter you are currently reading, we were obliged to face the grim face that our trusty computer was hopelessly fried (or to use the more technical terminology used by our wonderfully knowledgeable and amazingly patient support wizard at www.FolkDude.com, "completely unstrung").
Much of our activity during the last few days has thus been focused on one task: getting our operation back up and running so that we can resume providing our readers with market insights and so we can resume our own trading. The day-long Void-of-Course Moon was keeping us out of the markets anyway, so we were perhaps a bit more prepared psychologically to handle the chore of reformatting hard drives, reinstalling software, and figuring out exactly what data had been lost and what needed to be done to reconstruct it.
Along the way, of course, we've had much to contemplate. All in all, the last few days have offered a valuable lesson, aside from the more obvious ones concerning the need for preparation, foresight, and computer redundancy. In short, we have been reminded once again that the key to profitability in the markets, as well as the key to much else that is important in life, is our ability to cultivate emotional equanimity. If we are balanced emotionally, we are far more likely to be thinking clearly. If we are thinking clearly, we can much more readily identify opportunities for profitable trading. We can also learn to set aside the imperious commands of fear and urgency, reminding ourselves that the markets provide us with a never-ending stream of opportunity. They've been around a lot longer than we have, and they'll be here long after we're gone. In the meantime, all we have to do is to choose when to step in and when to step out. Those choices will be sufficiently on target if we have clear minds and balanced emotions.
TRADING THE ECLIPSE
Because of the challenges in getting this issue published, we have chosen to abbreviate our usual analysis somewhat. By next week we hope to have everything running smoothly once again.
As we indicated last week, we are currently looking at opportunities to profit from the Solar Eclipse by taking long positions in stocks which have First-Trade Suns conjoined by the current eclipse. You'll find an analysis of the best of the bunch in this week's Stocks To Watch section, at the end of this letter.

THE WEEK AHEAD
This week brings Mercury returning to direct motion (hooray!), as well as a Venus/Pluto trine and a Mars/Neptune conjunction. Although the markets have been showing a great deal of weakness around the eclipse, our expectation is that we will see a resumption of a short-term positive trend by the end of the week.
Have a great week!

SPIRITUAL FOCUS FOR THE WEEK
The greatest traders have all understood that emotional balance is the key to successful trading. Through Practical Spiritual Astrology we have an opportunity to restore inner harmony, enhance emotional balance, and make wiser choices in the markets.
It's time to get ourselves back in focus. We can begin by admitting that even though we may not know exactly what we are doing, we are nevertheless ready to make a real commitment to dramatic transformation in our lives. If we start with powerful intention, we can be assured that our experience will be filled with positive manifestations.
"I am an idealist. I don't know where I'm going but I'm on my way." - Carl Sandburg

GLOBAL EQUITIES MARKETS LAST WEEK
Stocks around the world reversed to the upside for the most part last week, but by the final trading session there was serious doubt as to whether or not traders would be able to sustain the rally. The main exceptions came in Paris and London and in the Asian markets, where the week's gains were especially healthy.

STOCKS TO WATCH: FOSL, MDZ, TWP, VDSI.
Fossil Inc. (FOSL)
NASDAQ; optionable
First Trade Date: 04/08/1993; 09:30 a.m.
Trading Strategy: This stock, like all of the others in this week's list, caught our attention because the Solar Eclipse conjoined its First-Trade Sun. Jupiter, however, helped confirm FOSL as a trading candidate. On the date of the eclipse, FOSL made a correct low based on a planetary line generated from Jupiter's UC placement (G,12,N,0). As long as FOSL doesn't close below that line after Monday's void-of-course trading (with a close of 25.30 or higher), we will enter a long position on Tuesday. Our initial stop will be set at 24.00, on the next-lowest increment of that Jupiter line.
MDS Inc. (MDZ)
NYSE
First Trade Date: 04/07/2000; 09:30 a.m.
Trading Strategy: The defining astrological factor for this eclipse-driven stock is Pluto (G,24,N,0), which slowed the stock's advance in late March and which is currently providing an important zone of resistance. MDZ made a correct low on the Pluto line two days before the Solar Eclipse, and then closed about four cents above it on the date of the eclipse. With a Venus/Pluto trine coming on Monday, we have a significant addition to this dynamic; if MDZ continues to trade above the Pluto line or makes a correct low Monday on the trine at approximately 14.45, we will enter a long position on Tuesday. Our initial stop will be set at 14.05.
Trex Company Inc. (TWP)
NYSE; optionable
First Trade Date: 04/08/1999; 09:30 a.m.
Trading Strategy: TWP gapped down dramatically on the day of the eclipse, then made a correct low exactly on the Venus line (G,24,N,0) that day. The strength of that move strongly suggests that the low will hold, so we are ready to consider a long position here as soon as Monday's void-of-course Moon is behind us. Transiting Jupiter in opposition to First-Trade Jupiter and the transiting Mars/Neptune conjunction conjoining First-Trade Uranus add some extra energy to the mix. We will enter a long position on Tuesday, setting our initial stop on the Saturn line (G,24,N,0) at 39.90.
Vasco Data Security International (VDSI)
NASDAQ
First Trade Date: 04/07/2000; 09:30 a.m.
Trading Strategy: This stock has the same First-Trade horoscope as MDZ, but it reacted to the eclipse much more emphatically. VDSI made a correct low on the Venus line (G,24,N,0) on the day of the eclipse, then went on to close that day on the Mars line (G,24,N,0). Its current price run-up was initiated by another correct low on the same Venus line on April 1, and we expect that line to continue providing support, especially if VDSI is able to close above the Mars line along the way. Our plan, in keeping with our strategy for the rest of this week's eclipse stocks, is to enter a long position on Tuesday. We will set our initial stop at 6.80.
